After 4 long months bundling yourself into an unrecognizable lump, it’s no wonder if you’re longing to show (and see) a little skin. This Wednesday, you’ll get the chance to shed your parka, long johns, and maybe more at the “Hint of Spring” edition of Strip Spelling Bee at MainLine Theatre. The game is played a lot like strip poker, but it’s a spelling bee, and it’s played in front of a live audience of hooters and hecklers who want to see a bunch of brainiacs bare all!

Here’s how it works:
One by one, participants are asked to spell a word. If they get it right, they sit down. If they get it wrong, they must striptease A third of their clothing off, and that is considered their first strike. If they misspell a second word, that is their second strike and they must striptease another third off. A third and final strike requires that they strip down to their underwear (or naked – whichever they are most comfortable with). After three strikes, a participant is out of the competition.

Brains and beauty will both be rewarded: there will be prizes for the winner of the bee, as well for as the performer of the best strip tease. Prizes include “a couple tall cans of beer” and “a CD with recordings of over an hour of cats purring loudly.”

Sign-up is at 8 p.m., the show starts at 8:30 p.m., and cover is $10. There must be at least 15 participants for the show to happen. Need a little added incentive? All striptease spellers get a free drink, and do not pay cover.
