Kevin Spacey is Jack Abramoff, the self-aggrandizing lobbyist who brings the spirit of Hollywood to Washington, D.C. Along with some shady partners-in-crime, Abramoff takes wheeling and dealing to the next level, involving politicians (including the Speaker of the House), Native reservations, Greek casino tycoons, and the mob. Abramoff’s empire grows to include a palatial house for his large family, his own boys’ school, and two restaurants (because there’s nowhere to buy good kosher in DC) until it all comes tumbling down around him. At the centre of the film is Spacey, who’s energetic and dedicated performance brings a complicated man out of the the convicted criminal. This is Washington done La La Land style, with a cast that includes Kelly Preston, Jon Lovitz, Maury Chaikin, and Rachelle Lefevre, and it pops.
