Whether you love ’em or hate ’em, weddings are an unavoidable reality by the time you hit your late twenties. Maybe you’ve been corralled into bridesmaid-ing by a pushy bride-to-be, or you’ve worked behind the scenes, serving up plates of overpriced roasted chicken to hangry guests for $15/hr.

Regardless of your vantage point, weddings are always a fascinating window into how a family functions – or doesn’t. Throw in some vindictive in-laws, flummoxed guests, and an open bar, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for entertainment!

We loved Crow’s Theatre’s The Wedding Party when it premiered last year, and we can’t wait to see what this year’s iteration will bring. The play (running January 2nd-20th) gives you a front seat at the wedding of bride and groom Sherry and Jack Jr. (whom we never actually meet). We are, however, introduced to the family and friends surrounding the happy couple – from the pretentious father of the groom, to the salt-of-the-earth mother of the bride. The hopes and machinations of these disparate parties collide in a rollicking, character-swapping brouhaha that will have you in stitches.

Want to score an invite to The Wedding Party of 2018? We’re giving away tix to a few lucky readers.
