“My favourite memory so far has been singing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah at the top of our lungs, students and teachers alike, at 3 am after an Easter ‘Resurrection Party’.”
Activities: Studying, reading, exploring Halifax, eating at good restaurants, going out for drinks, playing our old school Nintendo 64 to procrastinate.
Website: http://agingeandahalf.blogspot.com (It’s a silly website where my roommate and I post Youtube videos we find entertaining.)
The best night out is: one of those nights where your night progresses from different stops, starting off at someone’s house with some hanging out, then going out to a fun bar like the Seahorse and ending up late at night at Reflections, dancing til close.
You have to eat at: the Wooden Monkey. There is nothing on earth that could be better tasting than that lamb burger.
If you need to study, head to: The McCain Fireside Lounge if you’re in a relaxed study mood, the Sir James Dunn Law Library if you need a little more concentration, and the Killam if you’re in a panic.
My favourite class was: my “Opera and the Enlightenment” course taught by the wonderful Roberta Barker. Entertaining and informative.
The best thing about my school is: being in a huge community of great young people with your same general interests and ambitions. This will likely never happen again.
Make sure you avoid: the Killam during the late night owl season (when it is open midnight to 3 am). You can feel the stress and panic.
My favourite memory so far has been: singing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah at the top of our lungs, students and teachers alike, at 3 am after an Easter “Resurrection Party.”
If I could sum up my school in one sentence, it would be: “There’s nothing like the combination of the stress and fulfillment you get from schoolwork, and the distractions and laughs you get from your friends.”
