Master auteur David Lynch takes over TIFF Bell Lightbox (350 King St W) this summer for David Lynch: The Big Dream.

From the gut-wrenching humanity of The Elephant Man, to the fever dream that is Blue Velvet, to the satisfying Twin Peaks prequel Fire Walk With Me, Lynch’s films are “immersions in the darkness and violence that the director perceives bubbling just beneath the surface of American society, a world of dreams and nightmares in which his (relatively) innocent protagonists are forced to choose between good and evil, even as they come to understand that they contain both within themselves.”

From his short films to his hits (Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive) to his more conventional work (The Straight Story), you’ll find something strange and new to explore this summer.
