Among cries of ‘who the f*ck is Arcade Fire!?’ at this year’s Grammy awards, the bigger question at the time (at least among Canadians who were already in the loop regarding Arcade Fire, AHEM) seemed to be ‘who the f*ck is Esperanza Spalding!?’ – winner of the 2011 Best New Artist award, and the first jazz musician to earn the title in 35 years. She beat out the Beebs, Mumford and Sons (swoon) and Drake, and she looked simply stunning and deserving throughout the entire process. C’est qui ça?

Your chance to find out has arrived! The 2011 International Montreal Jazz Festival presents Esperanza Spalding on Monday, June 27 at the Théàtre Maisonneuve (175 St-Catherine West), as she tours on the heels of her third album, ‘Chamber Music Society’.

Described by reviewers as “a sprawling collage of jazz fusion, Brazilian and even a touch of hip-hop”, Spalding’s sound will no doubt be an intriguing thing to witness.

Ticket prices range from $52 to $63, and can be purchased online
