Have you exhausted Netflix? Find yourself mindlessly scrolling through TV shows you’ve already seen or flicks that are just ‘meh?

We’ve found the antidote.

Fandor is a new streaming film service (similar to Netflix) that specializes in independent, docs, cult films, classic and foreign films (similar to what you’d see at TIFF Bell Lightbox, or find in the Criterion collection).

In honor of Mother’s Day, they’ve put together a great list of films to watch with mom. You won’t find Steel Magnolias or Beaches on this list (sorry, Mom!) but you will find slightly more obscure (but equally endearing) films to expand your horizons.

Check out Todd Solondz’ black comedy about a dysfunctional family, Dark Horse, or Forget Me Not, a heart-wrenching depiction of caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s. There’s also the edgy coming-of-age Quebecois film I Killed My Mother, and Home, a mesmerizing fable of modern family life starring Isabelle Huppert. Fandor is the perfect gift for your cinephile mom.

To celebrate, we’re doing a Mother’s Day Giveaway of 3 three-month Fandor subscriptions.
