Mansion events will never get old, and that’s because the party throwers are experts at changing things up. No two events are ever the same; it has come to the point that I will basically do whatever Mansion says, so when they came out with Foundry—a month-long series of DJs that incorporates unique visual projections and installations—I was ready for whatever they had in store.

Foundry kicked off on Friday night in The Blk Box Theatre (below The Great Hall) with L.A. producer Shlohmo. If you can think of every synonym for the word “amazing,” you’d have a sense of how the night was. But seriously, if you were anywhere else, I genuinely feel bad for you.

People without tickets were turned away at the door because the event was completely sold out—a sign that what was to come was going to be a super treat. Harrison Bennett, Deebs, and D33J opened the night before Shlohmo took to the stage, and the crowd packed themselves onto the dance floor for what turned out to be an unreal set.

He played his remixes of Drake’s song “Crew Love” and Jeremih’s “Fuck U All The Time,” plus tracks off of his latest EP, Laid Out (which came out yesterday, y’all. Buy it. You won’t regret it.) The set went quickly (with help from Foundry’s sponsor Sapporo) and when it was over it was kind of sad.

Foundry will be happening every weekend of March, so if you’re feeling sad about missing Shlohmo (which again, you should be) you can catch other great acts like Omar S and Andy Stott—and I’m sure the last night of Foundry on March 30, with DVS1, will be one for the books.

And if you happen to make it to every night of Foundry, you deserve a gold star.
