The Squamish Valley Festival, which my friend and I have lovingly dubbed the Squa, is fast approaching! Taking place this Thursday, August 8 to Saturday, August 10, the music festival is bringing some of the music industry’s most exciting acts to Squamish, British Columbia (just a short jaunt from Vancouver!). Here are some performers we’re super stoked on.

Dan Mangan. Local talent, whaddup! My love affair with Vancouver’s Dan Mangan started at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He performed “Robots” and my heart was his. Mangan’s music is egalitarian; it’s music for the people. Catchy lyrics, sing-a-longs, friendly guitar melodies, and a whole lot of sincerity…yep, still in love.

Deap Vally. Two LA women, one badass sound. Seriously, this rock duo is on the steady climb to success! Their music pumps into your chest and makes you want to grab a guitar of your own. Plus they’ve got a song called “Gonna Make My Own Money.” Winning.

Diamond Rings. Toronto’s beloved pop/rock outfit Diamond Rings is sure to put on an amazing show that will have you on your feet in seconds. Fresh off the heels of his sophomore album release, Diamond Rings will undoubtedly bring the energy “Day & Night.”

Yukon Blonde. Also from Vancouver, Yukon Blonde’s light, airy rock is perfect for summertime. You’ll want to get up and wiggle to their tunes, which are full of guitar, drums, and harmony. “My Girl.” “Wind Blows.” Point proven.

Skratch Bastid. This Toronto producer/DJ brings the beats! His songs are eclectic, creative, and incredibly irresistible. Go see his set because it’s sure to be bananas, and because “Miley” is an incredible (t)werk of music.

So many more amazing musicians are taking the Squamish Festival stage, so don’t miss out! There are still tickets available, but they’re going fast. Get ’em here.
