Monday: Holt Renfrew Show, opening of LGFW

Of all the shows in LGFW, this is the one I look forward to the most. The Holts show provides a terrific overview of Canadian design riiiiight now by profiling eleven collections in one super sleek catwalk. Crème de la crème designers include Denis Gagnon, Greta Constantine, Jeremy Laing, Pink Tartan, Smythe our standard winter uniform, Canada Goose and more. Perhaps it’s the ADD in me but I enjoy this kind of Coles Notes summary on the very best our country has to offer. It’s a fantastic way to kick off fashion week, or the ‘official’ week that is.

Tuesday: Artists for Japan

Musicians and artists will gather at the Great Hall to raise money through a colourful book sale, paintings and craft vendors plus a tea ceremony and other enchanting creative  Join MC’s Rafi Ghanaghonian and Nana Akimoto along with DJ’s Luis Jacob and Derek Mainella and a gazillion artists for a beautiful night for Japan.

Thursday: Nightshades and Tigerlilies

Head to the Drake Underground on Thursday because it will be cooler than stepping into the untouched attic of the most notorious of vintage collectors. This Spring Pop-Up brings together independent collectors/sellers/designers like Tomorrow Never Knows, Bijoux Vintage, Upside Dive, Petit Beret and MORE. Hosted by our favourite rebel-rousing girl bike troupe, The Deadly Nighshades, this evening of fanciful wonderment will also provide you with first aid for your bicyclette. We aren’t sure either, but it sound fun! 6PM onwards until afterparty.

Friday: Medium No. 2 hosted by Tommy Ton, Amanda Lew Kee and The Fashion Collective

The LGFW late night finale will be held at fancy sushi boite on Mercer; Ame will be full of blue lips and well heeled peeps posing for pics. If there was one must-attend fashion party this week, it would be Medium No. 2.  Hosted by Canada’s IT style blogger, Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil and this city’s ‘one to watch’ designer, Amanda Lew Kee, PLUS The Fashion Collective, the hipper half of LGFW, it’s certain that the best dressed parade will be in full effect. Did we mention New York City’s The Misshapes will get you swaying on the dancefloor? Yeah, start planning your outfit now.
