Haiti Fundraisers

by Caitlyn Holroyd

It’s been a little over a week since the disaster in Haiti and support is still needed as they begin to rebuild. Here are some fun ways you can help!

Shimmy and shake with the In Crowd to the sounds of Motown, R&B, Funk, Soul and ’60s Rock with all proceeds from the door going to Stand with Haiti.

Canada for Haiti Special: January 22, 7 p.m.

CBC, CTV and Global are joining forces through Canada for Haiti, hosted by Cheryl Hickey of ET Canada, Ben Mulroney of eTalk, George Stroumboulopoulos of the Hour, and Dave Toyeen, President and CEO of World Vision Canada. Donations accepted during the broadcast will benefit the Canadian Red Cross Society, Free the Children, Save the Children Canada, UNICEF Canada and World Vision Canada. Musical guests include the Tragically Hip and K’naan, with appearances by Michael J. Fox, Pamela Anderson, Céline Dion, Sandra Oh and James Cameron, among others.

Help Le Petit Castor Give a Dam: January 22

Hope for Haiti Now: January 22, 8 p.m.

Organized by George Clooney, this star-studded telethon will feature musical performances from Los Angeles, New York City and London, along with live reporting from CNN’s Anderson Cooper in Haiti. Performers include Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys, and proceeds will be split evenly among The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, United Nations World Food Programme, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, The Red Cross, UNICEF and the Yele Haiti Foundation.

Shop for the Cause 2: January 23, 11-5 p.m.

Queen St. E. Presb. Church (947 Queen St. E.) is hosting an afternoon of shopping for Haiti, featuring a sale of new merchandise and gift certificates donated by a variety of Toronto artists, designers, businesses and restaurants. All money raised goes to the Haiti Earthquake relief efforts via the Canadian Red Cross.

Bootcamp for Haiti: January 25-31

Sweat for Haiti! Bodysculpt in Whitby (104 Consumers Dr.) is raising money for the victims of Haiti through their bootcamp and yoga classes, with 100% of the donations going to the cause.
