Whether you’re a homeschooler looking to fill a day or a teacher who wants to bring an engaging art class into the classroom for your students, the AGO has launched a new virtual school program that offers free art classes that have been designed to stimulate creativity for artists of all ages.

The live art education program happens daily, Monday to Friday via Zoom, and each lesson connects to the Ontario Curriculum, while also weaving in an element of wellness.  Imaginative thinking and creative expression offer a myriad of ways that can benefit mental health, which is a top priority for every school year.

Over the next few weeks, students as young as JK—and all the way up to Grade 12—can be signed up for lessons specifically made for them that explore a variety of subjects within the following areas: Highlights of the AGO’s Collection, Art and the Environment, Art and the Senses, Indigenous Art and Artists, and Getting to Know Art of the African Diaspora.

Reading the course descriptions alone is a tremendous source of inspiration, so we’re certain that these art classes will provide a wonderful outlet, while also making kids consider the history of art, and its relationship to society and the planet, differently. COOL!
