Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful, a film about the late German photographer who had a defining impact on the worlds of fashion and art, will be screening at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema and other virtual theatres across Canada next month. 

Presented by Films We Like, the Gero von Boehm-directed film features Grace Jones, Isabella Rossellini, Anna Wintour, Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Faithfull, Claudia Schiffer, and others offering their thoughts on Newton’s life and often provocative work Grace Jones, Isabella Rossellini, Anna Wintour, Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Faithfull, Claudia Schiffer, and others offering their thoughts on Newton’s life and often provocative work – images that still spark the question of whether Newton viewed these women as subjects or objects. The film also includes home movies, archival footage, and Newton’s still photography. 

Screenings begin July 24 and cost $9.99 per ticket, with proceeds helping to sustain programming at the participating theatres and support reopening efforts. You can purchase your ticket through Hot Docs here.
