Do you know what would happen if you took some of the most powerful, nutrient dense, amazing foods available to us on this planet and rolled them all together? You get superhero-worthy balls.
This recipe was created based on an email I received from a participant in the 3-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse, wanting to know what else she could make with all the super-foods she had collected for the cleanse.
In addition to using Spirulina to turn your bread green and Hulk-like, an easy peezy solution is to roll all this goodness together into spoonfuls of power-packed nutrition. Icing on the cake, or cacao bean on the hemp seed as the case may be, is that they are the best tasting experiment I have come up with in ages. And they’re raw raw raw.
This uncooked raw food assemblage was inspired by a recipe in David Wolfe’s book, appropriately named Superfoods. You definitely don’t have to stick to my recipe as I definitely didn’t stick to his. Use the foods you have around.
My balls are slightly nutty tasting thanks to the hemp, a little sweet with the honey and goji, rich and smooth with the ground cacao and unrefined, cold pressed coconut oil, a touch salty with the sea salt and have a crispy, crunchiness with the chia seeds. The vanilla bean is simply gold and the spirulina, well, that carries the energy power of pure sunlight. Seriously, if a superhero had balls for a snack, these would be them…
If I were a superhero, I would be Bowel Betty, keeping people happy and healthy through regularity. Wait a second, I am very busy keeping people happy and healthy through regularity. Just call me Bowel Betty.

SuperHero’s Balls
Every ingredient in this recipe is optional. Try and stick with the proportions though to get the right consistency. Use what you have!
1/2 cup raw cacao, ground
1/4 cup goji berries, ground
1/4 cup hemp seeds, ground or whole
2 Tbs coconut oil
2 Tbs raw honey or agave
2 Tbs Spirulina
1 Tbs Rice Bran (it should be the white and finely ground variety)
1 Tbs Chia Seeds
pinch of sea salt
inside of one vanilla bean or 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Mix all ingredients together thoroughly
- Roll roughly 1 Tbs worth of mixture in balls
- Freeze for 15-20 minutes and enjoy!
