For the IZMA show at Toronto’s Fashion Week, I opted to wear a sheer black pleated jumpsuit straight out of a Studio 54 dream. And lucky for me, I fit right in!
The collection was a riot of decadent fabrics and dazzling design, featuring sheer jumpsuits with deep set v-necks and lots of sparkle. The colours were deep and luxurious, in delicious burgundy, maroon, and eye catching gold. Cinched-waist silhouettes made the slinky silks figure flattering, and high-waisted pants had us thinking Charlie’s Angels, or Jasmine from Aladdin if she were invited to Kate and William’s wedding. Designers Izzy Camilleri and Adrian Mainella must have a secret crush on Bianca Jagger, because everything from the short curly hair and the dark eye makeup to the parachute styles and stacked sparkly heels screamed disco goddess.
And FUR the love of god: Fur stoles, capes, boleros and calf length jackets were all over the runway. Belted or not, they were absolutely stunning. And absolutely necessary if we’re going to wear IZMA’s see-through dresses underneath.
Is it too soon to wish for next winter to get here?
