Indie pop is really 2007, right? Does anyone mind if I still listen to it occasionally, while cleaning my apartment or sitting on the bus at 7am or – dare I speak of summer – lying in the park on a sunny day? Because once in a while being 21 is a good idea again and grad school can wait and I want to spend hours dancing to Miike Snow’s bouncy beats in something fluorescent and nylon. Cool?

Metropolis (59 St-Catherine East) lights up on May 2 with Miike Snow, the three piece electro-indie-popish band from Sweden who do a lot of funky and slightly melancholic things with the melodies they produce. Their sophomore album ‘Happy To You’ is set to drop in late March, featuring their newest single Paddling Out. Naturally, their older work holds a special place in my 2009-heart – songs such as Silvia (so very post-apocalyptic) and the ever-popular Black & Blue, for example.

Tickets are $33.20 (fees included) and can be purchased online here. Doors open at 6:30pm, and Penguin Prison will kick the night off at 8pm!
