Wedged into the block of glory that is College Street between Euclid and Manning (Motoretta, Kalendar, The Big Chill, The Friendly Magnolia) is the sort of everything store your soul craves and your wallet dreads. A trip to The Arthur (550 College St.) is like a trip to your grandparents’ house, that is, if you happen to have the kind of grandparents The Arthur’s owner, Liz, does. Grandparents with a serious knack for picking out treasures that will last forever, hold significant meaning, and are genuinely cool to look at and learn about. Their names were Jane and (you’re not going to believe this) Arthur, and over the course of their 65 year marriage, they invested in beautiful wares for their home – from atlases to Vic lit to Tina Turner. According to Liz, it’s in her genes to collect items and their stories, and she wants to share them with you!
If you’re looking for something special to give a friend, if you’re looking for something gorgeous to warm up your own home, or if you’re just looking for a nice chat with a beautiful soul, head into The Arthur.
Take a look at some of what’s in store right now, and check the website for even more stuff as it comes in! The Arthur is also a blog, and they’re not afraid of tweeting @thearthurdotca. Like them on Facebook, Twitter too, whydon’tcha?

The Hercules Bike is only for the most serious cruiser – it’s a real beauty and has some weight to it.
Handpicked by Liz just for SheDoesTheCity, these watches are perfect for our bright state of mind these days (call to mind the prancing and the pants of the Gap party) and are done by Maria of Big Tinsel.
