A rising generation of Canadian artists are to be showcased in the AGO Art Rental + Sales Gallery’s second Merge exhibition this month. This gallery has been responsible for giving many of Toronto’s artists their first break, and will be showcasing the city’s newest talent – including feature works by Nicole Katsuras, Jennifer Long, Eamon Mac Mahon, Adam Makarenko, Amy Shackleton and Janna Watson. The opening on Friday March 19th goes from 6-9pm, and with the gallery located just steps from St. Patrick station, it will be the perfect spot to hit after work for some wine, cheese, and of course, great art. I can’t think of a better way to start your weekend! The artists being highlighted will be there, so you might end up leaving the gallery with a new acquisition… or having made a new artist friend!

For something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon in the city, head on back to the AGO Art Rental + Sales Gallery for their Saturday ArtSpeak series where their coordinator, Jennifer Bhogal, will be speaking with Tien Huang, Director, Bau-Xi Gallery, Christine Swiderski, Exhibition Coordinator of the OCAD Student Gallery, and artist Michael Adamson, about what you need to know to stay on top of the rising stars in the art market.

These types of events are a great way to learn which artists to watch out for, and will keep you informed about making investments in art. With the stockmarket being, shall we say, temperamental, many investors would now rather see their money on the wall, so get in-the-know about which artists you should be keeping an eye on.
