Galactique Recordings & Pop Montreal present an GR artist showcase featuring half a dozen local and American indie bands, including: Brooklyn’s Taperecorder; Montreal’s Toboggan; Austin’s Toof; Seattle’s Motrecraft; and Montreal’s Beeker. The party kicks off at 8pm with free Frito pie and a performance by Halifax’s Ryan Hemsworth.

Kool-Aid Man in Second Life @ Drawn & Quarterly
Jon Rafman is Kool-Aid Man. The dated ad icon has been resurrected, re-purposed and re-contextualized into Second Life. Rafman uses the Kool-Aid Man to explore the virtual world from a position of remove, critiquing and examining the social interactions and architectural landscaping of this strange, disturbing and often hilarious community. Let him guide you through the Second Life Tour and discover what it all means! Rafman is an internationally acclaimed artist based in Montreal. His projects include Google Street Views, Brand New Paintjob, PAINT/FX and Kool-Aid Man in Second Life. His works will be featured at the New Museum in New York in October.

The XX Afterparty @ Le Belmont
After their sell-out show at Metropolis last spring, those moody, brooding Brits known as The XX return to Montreal, this time playing the decidedly swankier Place des Arts. Then, head over to le Belmont for a Neon-hosted XX afterparty featuring Jamie XX and Fantastic Mr Fox.

Jenny Holzer & the Address Project @ Agora Hydro-Québec
DHC/ART will offer an interactive presentation on the works of Jenny Holzer, after which participants will create a postcard to offer an observation on human behaviour or a reflection on society. The ADDRESS project was created in an effort to engage visitors and to further explore the themes of the Holzer exhibition being shown at the Foundation until November 14, 2010. With Maude Pilon. Jenny Holzer will not be in attendance.
