Bridgerton Season 3 is talk of the Ton! We kicked off Valentine’s Day by tuning into Netflix’s global fan event to hear all about the upcoming season of Bridgerton, premiering this spring. As Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury, teased: “Season 3 is for all us wallflowers.”

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes, new showrunner Jess Brownell, author of the Bridgerton book series Julia Quinn, and the Bridgerton cast were in attendance to share some teasers for the new season.

Every season of Bridgerton tells the story of a new couple, and in Season 3, fans will finally get to see the friends-to-lovers story blossom between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

“Usually we’re meeting a new person who’s falling in love with one of our regulars,” said Shonda Rhimes during the Q&A. “But this time, we know the people who are falling in love. We’re already rooting for them because we already know them.”

Fans were treated to a sneak peek of the first minute of the highly-anticipated third season. In the newly-released clip, we see Penelope confront Colin about a cruel remark he made at the end of Season 2. Coughlan and Newton teased that these two have a lot of growth ahead of them, as they must mend their friendship before it begins to evolve into something more.

In Season 3, Penelope decides it’s time to find a husband, looking to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope doesn’t have much luck on the marriage mart…until Colin, eager to win back her friendship, agrees to help her. As Penelope’s confidence grows, and she begins to find potential suitors, Colin begins to realize his feelings for Penelope might be more than friendly…

“Colin and Penelope are underdogs in many ways…we get to see these characters step into their power this year, which I think will make a lot of people who have ever had an unrequited crush or felt like an underdog before feel very seen,” said Jess Brownell during the live event.

Also announced today were the episode titles for Season 3, including a nod to Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the novel by Julia Quinn that inspired this season of Bridgerton. Here are the Bridgerton Season 3 episode titles:

Episode 1: Out of the Shadows

Episode 2: How Bright the Moon

Episode 3: Forces of Nature

Episode 4: Old Friends

Episode 5: Tick Tock

Also causing a stir in Season 3 is the tension between Penelope and Eloise (Claudia Jessie). Following Eloise’s discovery that her best friend was indeed the notorious Lady Whistledown, Jessie teased that Eloise is still fuming at her friend’s betrayal, and that the conflict won’t be resolved instantly. Nonetheless, we’re all rooting for this dynamic duo to make up—Shonda Rhimes even called their friendship “the second love story of the season.”

Fans also got to hear from Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh, who play Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, as they re-enter the Bridgerton world following the success of the Queen Charlotte series last year. With everything we now know about these characters and their backstories, both actors said they were happy that fans will have a more complete understanding of these women going into Season 3.

Other folks across the Ton will be navigating new changes this season! Luke Thompson hinted at more self-discovery and a pivotal confrontation for Benedict Bridgerton, while Martins Imhangbe, who plays boxer Will Mondrich, teased a prominent new title for his character.

With promises of intriguing new characters, spectacular visuals, and more of its signature, heartfelt storytelling, there is so much to look forward to in the third season of Bridgerton.

Bridgerton Season 3 will stream on Netflix with Part 1 dropping on May 16, and Part 2 on June 13.
