This week, the Contemporary Art Galleries Association presents its annual art fair, Papier 11. Touted as the only Montreal art fair dedicated to solely paper-based works – everything from photographs to engravings to installation art – Papier 11 will bring together 38 galleries (from Quebec and Ontario), 400 artists and over 1200 pieces of artwork, from April 14 to 17. All of these numbers really just mean one thing: you will definitely find something lovely to buy and frame for that empty wall space above your sofa/bed/dining table.

Place des Festivals (175 St-Catherine West) will host the four-day event, including a vernissage on the first evening, where for $125 a ticket, guests can rub elbows with the mass of artists participating in this year’s art fair. Admission to Papier 11 is free, and guided tours will be provided each hour for visitors, in English and French, by local university art history students. The fair is open from 10am to 6pm each day. You should probably go.
