Through community spirit and generous donations, a small committee was able to whip together a gala in a few short weeks—and raise nearly $30K for the Fort York Food Bank. This is quite a success story for a fundraising effort in its inaugural year! There was no messing around with theme ideas; Lucky Ball was all about getting ‘er done.

Jars of Lucky Charms lined the bar, oversized four leaf clovers decorated the dance floor, and we were more than happy to pose in front of paper plate rainbow. Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning DJ’d from The Great Hallstage and had the Bay Street suits dancing to Solange in no time. We hung out under an enormous green balloon and soaked up the scene while sipping the Heineken on offer.

Unlike most St. Patrick’s Day events, this was an elegant affair where festive green attire was traded in for sequinned dresses and tuxedoes. Whether dressed to the nines or channeling Madonna from Desperately Seeking Susan(whoops! Guess we didn’t read the memo), it was an evening full of positive neighbourhood vibes. It was a super fun way to kick off the weekend.

Shedoesthecity was delighted to jump on board as a media sponsor, and we hope that the Lucky Ball becomes a Toronto tradition!
