Timeraiser isn’t your typical art auction. Instead of bidding with money, attendees pledge volunteer hours at non-profit organizations in exchange for original artworks from emerging Canadian artists. (The artists are paid for their works, too, so it’s a win-win-win all around!)

The 2018 edition of Timeraiser takes place this Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. at The Powerplant Contemporary Art Gallery (231 Queens Quay W.) and will feature over 75 participating artists. In addition to the live auction, there will be Artist Habitants with artists creating works live and selling curated pieces, an outdoor art market, live performances, delicious food, and open bars.

Those who bid on artwork can choose between over a dozen non-profits to donate their time to, including Habitat for Humanity, Kensington Health, World Wildlife Fund, The 519 and Sistering. Last year’s event saw Timeraiser raise 15,863 skilled volunteer hours while investing $20,000 in Canadian artists.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here.
