Queen Street West is one of those mythologized, surreal neighbourhoods that, loved or hated, stands out of the cityscape. Those of us who have lived, loved, grown, or just been in its presence know the power of the street to transform into a character in our memories-stories that occurred didn’t just happen there, they could only happen there. Using a collection of submitted love letters, actor Dana Puddicombe will be bringing those stories out from the shrouded windows, graffiti’d alleyways, and deserted railyards and into the light. Part of Summerworks, the walking tour will feature three different artists sharing the stories of residents, and will examine the genesis of the neighbourhood starting with the first artist move-in in the ’70’s, and circling through commercialization and gentrification. So, why do you love Queen St. West? Puddicombe is looking for people to submit their own Queen West Love Letters. If you have a story to tell, check out her blog (which is like getting the stories behind PostSecrets-addictive) and send it her way! http://www.summerwalksloveletters.blogspot.com/
