Five short stories and a memoir are adapted to create Tatsumi, a tribute to the Japanese Manga artist of the same name.

Tatsumi’s work chronicled the aftermath of the Second World War, and his choice of topics, like the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, created a genre of Manga for adults. Director Eric Khoo adhered faithfully to Tatsumi’s artistic style when he brought his work to life on the big screen. The film received Un Certain Regard at Cannes and critical acclaim.

If you love Manga, this is an opportunity to appreciate the work of one of the genre’s greats.

Tatsumi screens until January 31st. For showtimes and tickets, visit the TIFF Bell Lightbox site.
