Are you a budding cinematographer? Is making a groundbreaking documentary a part of your five year plan? Are you a recent film studies grad? If you said YES to any of those, then you are probably already making use of LIFT (Liason of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto) If you said, NO, who cares, this is a fun thing to do on a Thursday eve that supports local independent filmmaking, which is very very important!

Join LIFT in celebrating their 30th anniversary at ShopLIFT, the annual Silent Auction Fundraiser, that is definitely more interesting than most. Bid on film production services, gallery memberships or one-of-a-kind donations from local musicians and film professionals. OR get served spaghetti by youth in Parkdale. Huh? You’ll have to go to find out. 100 + items will be auctioned off.

What could possibly be better than an arts-driven silent auction? MOVIE-OKE! If you have ever worked at a film festival, you will know that loving karaoke is practically a prerequisite. I have no idea why, but this is an indisputable fact! However, instead of blaring Journey at the top of your lungs, MOVIE-OKE will give you the chance to say-sing-scat or croon movie dialogue with live musical accompaniment. (Don’t even think about it, Casablanca is miiine!)

Film peeps are talkative when they are drunk. Meet some new friends who like to wear black and talk about Hitchcock versus Bergman. And check out what LIFT is all about.
