Toronto’s homeless cat situation is pretty grim – there are over 100,000 felines prowling the streets among us. That’s roughly the population of Kamloops!

Keep as many paws as possible toasty warm this winter, and come out to Sadie’s Juice Bar’s (504 Adelaide St. W) bi-annual chilli event on Tuesday November 8th from 7 – 10 in support of the Feral Cat Colony. A suggested donation of $10 lets you cash in on as much delicious vegan chilli and chips as you can handle. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.

The Greenwood and Gerrard Feral Cat colony, is a no-kill, non-profit, 100% volunteer run organization and all donations go directly to helping cats in need. What does that mean exactly? They look after feral cats in the east end of the city, practising the trap, neuter and release method of reducing feral cats living outdoors in the city. They also provide cats with food and medical care and have a network of foster homes that helps every cat in their care.

There are tons of ways you can volunteer with the Greenwood and Gerrard Feral Cat Colony, (adopt-a-thons, bottle feeding, cleaning, driving, e-mailing, grooming, naming kittens, questioning potential adopters, etc.) See their volunteer page for more info.

… And if you happen to like chilli and chips, that helps too.
