Special Exhibition Tour: Stories from the Picture Press

Explore more than thirty-five stories about historic events and personalities, while learning how photojournalists and press agencies work together! This exhibit draws from the Image Centre’s Black Star press photography collection and the archive of Canada’s national news agency. Take a look at how photos shape news narratives and vice versa for publications at this on-campus event. This free tour illustrates the importance of media literacy and pushes for nuanced conversations surrounding the news. More info.

Drunk Feminist Films- 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s All That

If you have ever fallen asleep through your highschool English classes on Romeo and Juliet, this film will make you regret those decisions! 10 Things I Hate About You is a “Shakespearean-esque” love story chock full of 1999 fashion, paintball, and letters to Cleo. This film is part of a two-night double feature with She’s All That! This interactive event uses fun-fuelled commentary to tease apart the tropes of mainstream movies and media. More info.

One of a Kind Spring Show

Everyone loves a unique trinket, whether it be a collectible, or a handmade object from local artisans, you are guaranteed to find your next purchase at this One Of A Kind show. Running since 1975, this showcase highlights Canadian artists and their work in Toronto. It was made for people looking to collect and connect with others! In addition to displays, there will be daily fashion shows, mainstage speakers, and surprises to get your creative spirit on. This show will transform your day into an immersion of creative communities for a vibrant experience from over 400 vendors from coast to coast. More info.

Open Circle Poetry Hangout

Embrace your inner poet with this creative hangout that engages in art discussions, writing exercises, experimental activities and collective sharing. With a focus on poetry, Open Circle gathers folks to engage in the art of writing, featuring artists of all creative disciplines and expressions. One of the few in Toronto, this poetry hangout invites all for an intimate night of practice and space to gain feedback and insight. This event welcomes author and spoken word poet, Britta B for insight on her debut collection “Wires That Sputter.” More info.

Being Scene

Being Scene is a juried exhibition of recent artworks by Workman Art members and individuals highlighting those who have accessed CAMH services in Toronto. There will be two locations for the show, one at the Remote Gallery opening Saturday, March 30, and Workman Arts’ offsite location at Artscape Youngplace, opening Friday, April 5. These springtime exhibitions will display over thirty juried artworks selected by curators and artists. The aim of the show is to brighten the city with this diverse and inclusive space! More info.

Gallery and Vintage Crawl

Try out Toronto’s self-led vintage and gallery crawl in Little Portugal this weekend to explore hidden gems in the neighbourhood. Located in 12 vintage shops and 13 local galleries, each point on the map features an array of artistic offerings! Vintage favourites include Fevers Vintage, SHOPCOAT, Good Habits and more. Keep your eye out for free treats from the neighbourhood handed out by staff as well! More info.
