Internationally published artist Nahid Kazemi is Toronto Public Library’s new Illustrator in Residence, based at the TPL Northern District Branch this October.

Nahid has illustrated sixty books and magazines for children and adults, including I’m Glad That You’re Happy and Les mots d’Eunice. She has degrees in Visual Arts from the Art University of Tehran; her work has been exhibited internationally; and she taught drawing, illustration and graphic design at the University of Sooreh in Iran. Nahid moved to Canada in 2014 and currently lives in Montreal.

Throughout October, Nahid will host workshops and art activities for aspiring children’s book illustrators hoping to develop their artistic voice and style and eventually break into Canadian publishing. She will also conduct one-on-one portfolio reviews and school visits.

This is a unique opportunity to get the inside scoop from a seasoned illustrator in the publishing industry. For information on how to book a one-on-one portfolio review with Nahid, click here.

Be there for the launch of the program (plus chance to meet Nahid) on Monday, October 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Illustrator in Residence Program honours the memory of Illustrator Joanne Fitzgerald (1956-2011).
