Well, this is awesome. The Toronto Public Library’s New Collection presents cocktails with Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh at Goodnight, the hideaway cocktail bar down an alley off Richmond St.

The Scottish author is famous for his irreverant and outrageous novels, and he’ll sit down with award-winning filmmaker Robert Heydon, who recently produced and directed a film adaptation of Ecstasy. Goodnight’s speakeasy vibe is the perfect setting for what is sure to be an R-rated interview.

The event will take place on June 12th from 7 pm-9 pm, and is open to New Collection members only.

The New Collection is a membership program for Torontonians in their 20s and 30s. Becoming a member not only supports the Toronto Public Library Foundation, but comes with some serious perks. Beyond events like this one, members receive private, after-hours, behind-the-scenes tours with TPL collections curators, and access to lectures, programs, and exhibits presented by the library. Sign up with a friend to receive a discounted $250 membership, payable in installments. Single memberships begin at $300. Scroll down on the page here to join. The programming at TPL is always amazing, and being a part of an organization that gives so much to our city is a worthy investment!
