The Toronto Symphony Orchestra has returned with a new season full of captivating classical concerts in the heart of the city. This lineup of concerts will take you through the year, with something new to discover almost every week until June 2027! 

There are so many gems in the TSO’s 2026/27 programming—from pop culture fusions to fresh takes on the classics to spotlights on incredibly talented vocalists, musicians, conductors, and composers—many of them women. 

In addition to the TSO’s staple classical concerts, there is something for every kind of music lover this season, including tributes to James Bond and Whitney Houston, crossovers with K-pop and swing music, and joyful celebrations of the holiday season and Lunar New Year.

With so many concerts to choose from, here are 10 highlights from the TSO’s upcoming season that you won’t want to miss. 

FALL

The Music of Bond…James Bond – October 14 & 15

Celebrate 60 years of James Bond with an evening of the music that defined 007. Powerhouse vocalist and Tony Award winner Lena Hall will perform classics like “Goldfinger,” “Skyfall,” and “Diamonds Are Forever” alongside the TSO in this bold tribute to the iconic Bond sound. This is the first concert in the TSO’s beloved Pops Series, which offers a fresh take on music you love from stage, cinema, and the top of the charts.

Four Last Songs – November 12 & 14

Fall is an excellent time to take in a deeply reflective performance, and Four Last Songs will absolutely deliver. Celebrated Soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen will perform this piece written by Richard Strauss at the end of his life, reflecting on love, beauty, and acceptance of fate. The night will end on a joyful note with Beethoven’s vibrant Fourth Symphony.

TSO Holiday Pops: A Celtic Celebration – December 9 & 10

TSO’s Holiday Pops concerts are an annual tradition perfect for getting into the holiday spirit! This year’s edition has a Celtic twist, with legendary Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster and her family performing a lineup of festive favourites and Celtic classics alongside the TSO. This fiddling frenzy is sure to leave your heart light and spirits bright! Other holiday season offerings at the TSO include Handel’s beloved Messiah with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and a screening of the holiday classic ELF, accompanied by a live performance of the jolly score! 

WINTER

Rhapsody in Blue – January 8-10

Start off the New Year with this performance of Gershwin’s iconic, jazz-infused Rhapsody in Blue from rising star Jeneba Kanneh-Mason. The British-Sierra Leonean pianist will make her TSO debut with this performance—you can also catch her sister Isata at the TSO, performing the demanding Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3, and her brother, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, returning to the TSO for an encore performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto. 

Year of the Goat: A Lunar New Year Celebration – February 13

This is a Lunar New Year celebration you won’t forget! A roster of special guests, including 17-year-old Canadian-Chinese pianist Sophia Liu, will join the TSO for an evening of vibrant works that captures the creative and harmonious spirit of the goat. Plus, guests can arrive early for an Asian artisan market, lion dancers, and more! Or if you’re looking to celebrate as a family, the TSO is hosting a LNY-themed Young People’s Concert on February 7, bringing the excitement of traditional and modern Asian instruments to a younger generation.

The Greatest Love of All: A Whitney Houston Tribute – February 24 & 25

Pay tribute to Whitney Houston’s extraordinary music and legacy at the TSO this season. Broadway vocalist Aisha Jackson will join forces with The Voice’s Avery Wilson and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music Gospel Choir for a roof-raising symphonic salute to this voice of a generation, covering iconic tracks like “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “How Will I Know,” and more.

SPRING

Mozart & Bruckner – April 15 & 17

Two Canadian pianists will take the stage for this performance of Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos. The TSO’s Spotlight Artist, Angela Hewitt, will perform opposite rising star Carter Johnson, before Bruckner’s beloved Seventh Symphony completes the program with a finale that climbs to awe-inspiring heights. You can also catch Hewitt earlier in the season, performing at Beethoven’s Fifth from October 8-10.

Swing is the Thing – May 26 & 27

Sarah Hicks conducts this high-voltage performance that will transport you back in time to the vibrant sounds of the 1940s and 50s. Experience this vintage energy with the sensational vocals of Crystal Monee Hall, performing timeless hits from the likes of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and Bill Haley and the Comets, while four champion swing dancers groove along at this ode to old-school cool.

Mahler’s Eighth – June 17 & 19

At this major live recording project, soloists, choirs, and the orchestra will join forces for a performance of Mahler’s monumental “Symphony of a Thousand,” led by conductor Gustavo Gimeno. Be a part of history as the TSO, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Toronto Children’s Chorus and eight vocal soloists surround audiences with sound at this epic collaborative performance.

SUMMER

TSO x K-pop: SM CLASSICS LIVE – June 29 & 30

The symphony is going K-pop! Led by K-pop star Wendy from Red Velvet, experience the genre’s biggest hits reimagined with sweeping orchestral arrangements at this electrifying concert. Perfect for lifelong K-pop fans or first-time listeners, this unforgettable evening promises an epic conclusion to the TSO’s 2026/27 season.
