I have a confession: I know nothing about wine. Give me five minutes and I’ll talk your ear off about beer, but wine? I get bewildered and confused. Perhaps even a little frustrated. I’ve been on more than a few tastings and tours, but I still can’t seem to pick a decent bottle from the liquor store. Somehow I always end up with Proprietor’s White Zin; not exactly something you’d bring to a dinner party.

Luckily, I have my own personal sommelier for emergencies. An easy solution to all my vino problems! But not so much yours. So I’ve decided to share her, for now.

Carmen Weld, aspiring journalist, bartender extraordinaire, and sommelier, has compiled for us a list of her most reliable, budget friendly wines. She’s also taken care to make sure each selection is available at BC liquor stores, so you don’t have to venture anywhere private. Print it and keep it in your wallet for alcohol emergencies. You’ll never have to worry about wine faux pas again!
