Join us next Thursday, July 12 at TIFF Bell Lightbox to celebrate the momentous second year and relaunch of TIFF’s Share Her Journey initiative. This progressive campaign kicked off over a year ago and is committed to championing female storytellers and pushing gender equity in screen industries.
So much has happened in the film world since, including the powerful #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. This relaunch is an opportunity to listen to some of Canada’s most influential change-makers who have made significant contributions to Canadian film and television and who have a lot more to add to the conversation: What has happened? What is happening? What still needs to occur? It’s going to be a compelling event with the goal of furthering the discussions necessary for positive change.
The incredible panel, including actor Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale, Kim’s Convenience, Workin’ Moms); producer, filmmaker and writer Sharon Lewis (Brown Girl Begins); VP of Theatrical Marketing at Communications, Entertainment One Films, Joanna Miles; filmmaker Charles Officer (Nurse.Fighter.Boy, Unarmed Verses); and writer and filmmaker Joyce Wong (Wexford Plaza), will be moderated by Shedoesthecity Founder, Jen McNeely. For full bios for each panelist, go here. (BEST PANEL EVER.)
The event is open to Patron Circle Members at the Silver Level (for info on membership levels, go here), but we have a couple coveted spots that we are contesting off, because we know this cause is as dear to you as it is to us. We’re also certain that this event, taking place on the rooftop, will be extraordinary!
