Fait Ici, Montreal’s first urban general store, aims to bring you the best in local, organic foods and sustainably produced goods: meats and dairy products from Quebec farmers, organic fruits and veg, locally-made beauty products, eco-friendly baby gear & a slew of tote bags in which to lug it all home. Adherents to the 100-mile diet will have no problems here: the distance between manufacturer and shop is labeled on all items, with much of the merch weighing at 5km or less.

I had my eye on beautifully-grained wood cutting boards, skin care products from Smith Farms, and mouth-watering, hard-to-find Quebec cheeses. For the little ones, a toy recycling truck is good introduction to the joys of green livin’.

Fait Ici also offers prepared meals, so stop in and grab one of their tasty treats to go, or sit down and enjoy a meal.  With its friendly staff, high-quality local products, and concern with responsible consumption, Fait Ici is a most welcome addition to the burgeoning St-Henri village.
