Old Wig Vintage Sale @ Bain Mathieu, 2915 Ontario. OldWig Vintage hosts a vintage/art/music sale this week at the Bain Mathieu – a former 1930s-era bath/pool house. Over 25 collectors and boutiques will participate in the event, with evening performances by local bands. The sale will open from 5pm to 10pm both Thursday and Friday, and 12pm to 5pm on Saturday. Kinetik Festival 2012 @ Métropolis, 59 Catherine Street East. Montreal’s Kinetik Festival showcases the very best in the international electro, industrial, noise and hardcore scenes, all presented over four nights at our very own Métropolis. 7th Montreal Underground Film Festival @ Peut-être Vintage, 6029 Parc. Otherwise known as MUFF 7, the seventh annual Montreal Underground Film Festival holds its opening night bash this Thursday at Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), followed by three days of screenings at Peut-être Vintage. Low-budget North American and European films will be showcased – check out the full program! Opening night is $7, subsequent evenings are $5 each.

FRIDAY MAY 18 TO SUNDAY MAY 20

PouzzaFest 2012 @ several Montreal venues. Kick off your May long-weekend with PouzzaFest 2012, Montreal’s annual punk/ska festival that features over 100 well-known and up-and-coming bands at many fantastic venues, including Club Soda and Foufs. Some familiar names (from my 16 year-old punk days, anyway) include Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, The Bouncing Souls, Hot Water Music and The Flatliners. Mosh pit mouth guards at the ready, please! SATURDAY MAY 19 AND SUNDAY MAY 20

Montreal’s Anarchist Bookfair @ Centre d’éducation populaire de la Petite-Bourgogne et de St-Henri (2515 Delisle) & Centre Culturel Georges-Vanier (2450 Workman). Bookstores, authors and publishers from across North America will be on hand with their wares this weekend for the annual Montreal Anarchist Bookfair – film-screenings, workshops and public discussions will also be incorporated into the two-day event. Free entry. Children welcome.

SUNDAY MAY 20

9pm. Lipster! Karaoke @ Royal Phoenix Bar, 5788 St-Laurent. Well, you likely don’t work on Monday as a result of the long weekend, so this may be the perfect chance to check out Royal Phoenix’s karaoke night, and their Pabst + Poutine for $10 deal. Other notable specials include PBR tallboys for $4 and five shooters for $10; the Sunday night of champions.
