In light of the recent and ongoing events at Standing Rock in North Dakota, The Steady (1051 Bloor St. W.) is bringing together local talent for an evening of art, music, and solidarity in support of Indigenous land defence efforts.

We Are Water takes place this Thursday from 8 p.m. to midnight, and will feature a collection of dreamy, watery 16mm celluloid loops by Sylvain Chaussée of Zephyr; performances by garage rockers Mutt and Blunt Chunks (the musical project of singer/producer/woman-around-town Caitlin Woelfle-O’Brien); and selections by DJ Jimshorts.

Entry is $10 or PWYC, with 100% of the fundraising profits going to the Indigenous land and water defenders involved in pipeline resistance efforts. This includes support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their ongoing legal actions to halt the Dakota Access pipeline and Pull Together, a B.C. collective currently working to stop Kinder Morgan’s pipeline and tanker project.
