October 15th was the True North Gala, a memorable event celebrating Spinal Cord Injury Ontario’s 70th anniversary. Guests experienced some of Canada’s natural beauty immediately, as the reception area was decked out with a life size teepee and Inukshuk and the Ballroom was filled with live trees. (Talk about True North, strong and free!)

The evening was full of laughs, delectable hors d’oeuvres and tributes to true Canadian culture, including a Native dance and drumming troupe leading the charge with a dynamic performance into the ballroom. Guests could also take part in a live auction, led by professional auctioneer Jay Mandarino, and an end-of-the-night dance party with the featured live band, No Sugar Tonight.

In true Canadian style, a poutine station, alongside a s’mores and maple taffy station, fulfilled any late night snack cravings and paid homage to Canada’s fun culinary style.
