Sharpen those skates! The outdoor ice rink at Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen St. W.) will officially open this Saturday at the 51st annual Cavalcade of Lights.

The holiday kick-off event will feature two skating parties on the iconic rink – one at 6 p.m. with tunes from DJ Fawn Big Canoe (Motown Party, Y2K: Millennium Dance Party) and another at 9:40 p.m. with DJ Mel Boogie (host of Studio B on VIBE 105.5 FM). There will also be live musical performances, a fireworks show, visuals from local artist Roxanne Luchak, and the lighting of Toronto’s official sixty-foot(!) Christmas tree.

As always, the event is free.
