“No Chicken Refunds” reads the sign outside of Screemers, Canada’s #1 indoor haunted scream park. I arrived on a cold Friday with my boyfriend in tow, ready to run around haunted houses in the dark. The outside of the building (located in the exhibition grounds) is fairly unassuming, nothing compared to what inhabits inside. MWUAHHAHAHAHA…eeeeeeeeee!!!!

I entered the massive room which holds six different and terrifying themed haunted houses. There really is no “safe” zone once you walk inside. Mixed in with the six houses of horror are a psychic’s tent, a merch booth and The Vampire Lounge which is 19+ and offers full bar service for those of you who need some liquid courage. You also get to mingle with zombies and creepy clowns. Be warned: They will try to  scare you while you’re walking around.

Each haunted house is themed and has a kitschy name but The Slasher Wax Museum was definitely the most terrifying. Around every dark corner, a famous slasher awaits. They have props too! Expect to be chased by a chainsaw, a huge butcher’s knife, cages (which they bang on loudly), children’s dolls and my personal favorite, human limbs!

I clung to my boyfriends arm with my eyes closed for large amounts of time (I even used him as a human shield when Leatherface carrying a chainsaw started chasing us.) Overall, it was a fun night and thrilling experience. I would definitely recommend bringing a date or a friend you feel comfortable clingy to for dear life.
