12 really good reasons why you should attend Toronto’s Timeraiser on Saturday, May 30th

If you’ve heard of Timeraiser, then you know it’s one of the coolest charitable concepts around where you can bid your time on art and support great causes. Nonprofits connect with skilled volunteers, skilled people put their time to good use: AMAZING! (And it’s also a really fun night.)

Here are 12 reasons why you should really go:

1. Don’t have money to spend on art? No problem. Bid your volunteer time on a wicked piece of art by up and coming artists to liven up your living room!

2. This is one of the few fundraisers in Toronto where the artists are paid for their work, instead of donating. (win-win-win!) Many of them will be there, so you can ask them about their work and connect with a different crowd.

3. Want to volunteer but not sure where or how? At Timeraiser, you have the opportunity to connect with 28 Toronto-based nonprofits. Native Women’s Research Centre, Evergreen, Data For Good, Camp Ooch, Meal Exchange, Culture Link, Habitat for Humanity, Furniture Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Women in Leadership, Canadian Lesbian & Gay Archives: Walk around, talk to people, see where you’d fit best. (That’s like 12 good reasons in one bullet point.)

4. If you’d rather bid on an experience versus art, you can do that too! Cultural organizations like the AGO and Canstage will also have cool exclusive prizes.

5. FOOD TRUCKS! Detour Coffee, Dolcella Gelato, Localista, and M.E.N.U. food trucks will all be there, dishing up sweet and savoury street food.

6. When was the last time you spent a Saturday night on the waterfront? It’s a good time of year for that.

7. Once you’ve found the perfect art & organization to bid your time, hit the dance floor. DJ Denise Benson will be keeping it nice and sweaty.

8. Maybe this night will be the night that you find a charitable committee to join, or if you’d rather volunteer your social media or PR skills, there’s definitely a nonprofit that could use your help! (Other ways to bid your time: there’s really no limit! Come out and chat with great nonprofits to find out how you can fit your skills to their needs.)

9. Have you ever been to The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery? It’s a pretty special place.

10. OoOoOoOoOhhh, Project Gallery will be doing a surprise live art experience. Curious? RBC Emerging Print Shop will also have art up for grabs by Project Gallery. (So many ways for you to own/experience art in one evening!)

11. Did we mention that tickets are only $20? Yeah, that’s a good reason.

We’ll be there and hope you can join us! Buy your tickets now.
