An inner-city high school teacher discovers she is pregnant at the same time as one of her most promising students and the two develop an unlikely friendship while struggling to navigate their unexpected pregnancies.

Babies change everything. EVERYTHING! Unexpected is a heart-warming, poignant, and (at times) funny film that explores some of the difficult questions and decisions women are presented with before the birth of their child.

Director Kris Swamberg handles the issues and anxieties that new moms face with intelligence, humour and care, which results in a film that will undoubtedly spark important conversations regarding the support, or lack thereof, of our society at large when it comes to helping families adjust to life with a baby.
