I’m one of those few individuals that doesn’t have a sweet tooth. My vices are the salty snacks, and believe it or not I’d rather reach for a bag of chips than a chocolate bar. I’ll never turn down a good dessert, but it’s generally not something I plan my meal around.

There is, however, one dish that makes my mouth water. I can’t think about it without getting an instant craving. I’m talking, of course, about the Pazookie.

The Pazookie resides at the Hub in Yaletown, and has become infamous for it’s ability to produce crack-like cravings. I believe our server called it “Cookie crack”.

It consists of a giant chocolate chip cookie, half-baked, and served bubbling in a skillet with vanilla gelato. It’s the perfect size for two people if you can bring yourself to share, and the skillet ensures that the cookie stays warm the whole time you eat it. The top has a slight crispness to it, but the inside is all chocolaty gooeyness.

It’s incredibly homey and comforting, an experience enriched by the warm brick walls and cushy leather booths of the restaurant. The concept is so simple, it seems ludicrous that you haven’t tried it before.

The Hub has other great things on offer, like crab mac’n’cheese and a kick ass pineapple mojito, but the Pazookie is the selling point. The best part? It’s only $7. If you’re downtown, make the detour to Yaletown for the Pazookie, but be warned: your first Pazookie will not be your last.
