Starting March 8th, Art Matters invites you on a journey of visual art, photography, installations, jewelry and live music (served up with a hearty dose of snacks and booze) through a few of the Mile End’s best-loved shops and art galleries. It’s all part of Block Party, an innovative “crawl format” art show that connects 13 artists with seven separate storefronts in the Mile End.

The opening night vernissage (March 8th from 5-7pm) will be co-hosted by Montreal design shop General 54 (@ 54 St-Viateur West) and vintage boutique Annex Vintage (next door @ 56 St-Viateur West). The show features work by Erik Naumann (photography), Dan Vogt (installation), Sandra Chirico (installation), Emma Lightstone (map) and Tiffany Blaise (jewellery). Most of the artwork will be for sale.

During the vernissage, there will be food, grown up drinks, as well as a special live performance by Mozart’s Sister, Caila Thompson-Hannant (formerly Think About Life)’s solo project. Catch her before she heads to perform at SXSW on March 14th!

Other Block Party events include the Art Crawl Reception @ Monastiraki (March 11th at 3pm) and the Finissage @ Phonopolis (March 16th 5-7pm)
