Drag! Art! Burlesque! Go-Go dancing! We couldn’t be more excited to be an event sponsor for this multi-venue, visual extravaganza variety show featuring, literally, all of our favourite arty indulgences.

This juicy collaboration between Junko Mizuno, Magic Pony, Narwhal Art Projects and A Professional Distraction is going down on Saturday Feb 21st so mark it down RIGHT NOW before you forget and hate yourself forever.

The adventure begins with the opening of Junko Mizuno’s exhibition, Ambrosial Affair, at Narwhal (2104 Dundas Street West) from 3 – 6pm.

Not familiar with Mizuno’s work? No problem, we’ll give you a wee bit of background! She began her career over ten years ago by self-publishing manga in Japan. Before long, she developed a cult following and her graphic, titillating and very crass (we love them, obviously!) depictions of fairy tales including Hansel & Gretel and Cinderella were a hit worldwide.

More recently, Mizuno has turned her focus from comic books to fine art. Ambrosial Affair is her third Canadian solo exhibit and the second body of work in her Food Obsessions series, in which Mizuno explores food fetishes through dark, pop-art inspired imagery, “from ornate egg cracking sirens to erotic pigs pouring bacon and sadistically delicious ramen eatery.”

Next stop: hop over to the Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles Ave) and celebrate the show with a plethora of live, off-kilter performances inspired by Muzono’s art. Starring the best of Toronto’s drag and burlesque talent, Daytona Bitch, Ivory Towers, Agatha Frisky, Kitty Litteur, Red Herring, Bianca Boom Boom, Regina Dentata, Betsy Swoon and more. See you there!
