Last week, Becca and I were invited to attend a holy grail of product launches: the unveiling of Old El Paso’s Restaurante line of products AKA Canada’s newest Mexican food experience AKA an all-you-can-eat taco buffet.

With beachy mixed drinks in hand, surrounded by colourful flags and tapestries, Becca and I decided to pretend we were on a cruise ship without a care in the world…well one care, consuming as many tacos as possible.

In addition to shaking our tail feathers, over the course of the fun evening, we got to sample offerings from all three new kits: Steak Carne, Baja Fish and Chicken Tinga.

To ensure authenticity and delishness, the brand sent its team to cooking school in Mexico and brought in chefs from Grand Electric to consult.

The evening included a taco showdown. Obviously. Three teams were selected from the crowd and given a time limit to make and plate their creations.

15 minutes later the verdict was in: the NEW Old El Paso Restaurante tacos are super easy to make and delicious!  They taste bolder and zestier with loads of flavour in every bite.

We will definitely be buying all three kits but, if we haaaaad to pick just one: the Chicken Tinga stole our hearts and stomaches; it was love at first bite.
