Did you know there’s a gelato university in Italy? Kind of making you question your mundane English major, isn’t it? If hopping on a flight to Italy isn’t the best option for you, head over to Bella Gelateria (1001 West Cordova Street) instead. The owner/gelato artisan attended the prestigious Carpigiani Gelato University and thus takes his gelato making seriously.

You can actually watch the gelato being made, as the kitchen is completely transparent and visible to patrons in the restaurant and those passing on the street. The equipment used is imported from Italy and the first of its kind in North America, so you know this guy means business. Gelato is made and served daily, so everything is crazy fresh, delicious, and creamy.

Rotating flavours will have you coming back every day to check out what’s new. The pink grapefruit is amazing, but they always seem to run out before the day ends. Also try the gewürztraminer. That’s right, wine flavoured gelato. It’s like they knew you were coming. Each batch uses locally sourced ingredients where possible, and the best of those that must imported. The result is gelato that tastes unequivocal, and a fresh addiction for you to look forward to.
