Is your balcony boring? Is your windowsill wearisome? Is your terrace tedious? (I’m done, promise.) All of these surfaces would brighten exponentially with some colourful – or tasty – flora, no?

The wonderful folks at Concordia’s Greenhouse host their annual seedling sale from Tuesday, May 21 to Friday, May 24. The City Farm School’s “Vert ta Ville” project, based at Concordia’s Loyola campus in NDG, has yielded an abundance of seedlings this year, produced naturally and locally!

A fantastic variety of veggies and fruit will be on hand, including neat options like leeks, hot peppers, ground cherries and pumpkin, in addition to fine herbs, medicinal herbs and flowers. A full list of available seedlings can be found here; each is $3.

The sale will run from 10am to 7pm daily, at the Concordia Greenhouse, on the 13th floor of Concordia’s Henry H. Hall Building (1455 de Maisonneuve West).

Also, for those seeking professional gardening advice and guidance, the Loyola Farm will begin hosting weekly community gardening sessions, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm, beginning on June 4. Volunteers will plant, weed and harvest at Loyola’s four gardens (7141 Sherbrooke West). More information is available on the Loyola City Farm website.
