My desk is a smattering of Sex and the City 2 themed invites from Manolo Blahnik-champagne toasts at Holt Renfrew to backyard cocktail parties and, of course, the Toronto film premiere next week. Typically, my wardrobe is a mix of simple black butt-hugging minis and stained vintage frocks – none of which scream Carrie Bradshaw. Being a bona-fide theme-queen, I needed help.

There is no other boutique in Toronto that offers up such a vibrant variety of outrageously fun party dresses like Pam Chorley Fashion Crimes does. The longstanding Queen West go-to is synonymous with girly fun, especially so when resident stylist Kanchana Vongphakdy, affectionately known in the industry as Cha Cha, helps you channel your favourite SATC character. I mean, how fun is it to say, “Cha Cha – I think I need more puff.”

It was a delightfully playful fitting – with lots of crinoline, bright floral motifs and over-the-top accessories. Dresses at Fashion Crimes are typically in the range of $89 – $600, but on sale you can score one for as low as $30 (hint – there is a sale right now!) For Samantha Jones, Cha Cha pulled out a low cut gold lame priced at $249 and for Carrie – you can almost match her look with a tight white mini ($169) and oversized flower broach. There are plenty of more conservative cuts, that practically smell like roses, if you are looking to pull off Uptown princess Charlotte York or a black and white pencil cut – a la straight-shooting Miranda – can double as an office head turner.

With dresses hanging from the ornate ceiling and mannequins glittering with jewels and feathered headpieces, the shopping experience at Fashion Crimes is whimsical, fantasy like and totally fun. We also love trying on dresses alongside the teens hitting up prom whose mothers tsk-tsk at too much skin.

Get dolled up and have fun next week….’cause that’s what Sex and the City 2 is all about.
