The audience may have had to wait until nearly midnight for England’s latest electropop export, Little Boots, to take the Wrongbar stage, but people barely batted an eyelash. After all, she’s too darn cute to be mad at.

Sept. 14 marked Little Boots’ first visit to Canada, and she was well received. She opened her set with “Meddle,” along with others from her debut album Hands, and her cover of Freddie Mercury’s “Love Kills” off the Buffet Libre compilation. Her hit single “New In Town” was an obvious favourite amongst the crowd, and she stayed true to the lyrics: “I’m gonna make you feel alright.” With her energetic stage presence and happy pop tunes, my long day of dealing with bureaucratic university crap was easily forgotten.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how many of her songs transformed when performed live, becoming more epic with pumped-up choruses and heavier drum/bass (she also has a ton of stage presence for a little gal)! Little Boots, you are welcome back to Canada anytime.
