Hot Docs is rolling out its Doc Soup March programming, and we’re stoked to check out Michelin Stars–Tales from the Kitchen, directed by Rasmus Dinesen. Spotlighting internationally acclaimed chefs, Michelin Stars gives us a look into the prestigious and high-pressure world of haute cuisine.

It’s every chef’s dream to be awarded Michelin status (known to some in the industry as the “little red book”); Michelin Stars shows us the tireless work that goes into not only achieving but also maintaining such acclaim. With commentary by renowned chefs Alain Ducasse, Daniel Humm, René Redzepi, Andoni Aduriz and Yoshihiro Narisawa, Dinesen’s delicious doc chronicles the culinary world through the eyes of the chefs, the critics and the customers.

A powerful and thoughtful film, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for the blood, sweat, and tears from this demanding (and sometimes thankless) industry.

Michelin Stars–Tales from the Kitchen will screen on Wednesday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., and Thursday, March 8, at 6:45 p.m. at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema. Director Rasmus Dinesen will be in attendance to participate in post-screening Q&As. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.hotdocs.ca or in person at the office.
